How Dark is home window film?

Will window film make my home too dark?

Will window Tint make my home too dark?

Architectural window film (commonly known as home window tint) is specially designed for homes and offices. Home window tint can be as light or dark as you would like it, as there are a plethora of options in terms of colors, shades, and types. Therefore, it is really up to our clients to choose exactly how light or dark they would like their home window tint.

Due to the myriad of window film options, we highly suggest taking advantage of our free, no-pressure quote option to help you find the perfect product for your space that meets your daylight needs.

While the exterior is visibly changed (resulting in privacy and heat rejection), the interior still receives plenty of natural light. Many clients are surprised to find their view from the interior is much clearer and more enjoyable to look at with solar/privacy window film. our popular silver series solar window film knocks off the edge of glare, allowing your eyes to relax and enjoy your view.

At Luxury Window Tinting, we ONLY install architectural window films that are all designed with homes and offices in mind. During our no-pressure consultation, we only recommend window films that add the level of comfort and privacy your home needs, while still allowing plenty of mood-boosting daylight to filter into your home or office. We do NOT use automotive-grade window films or cheap, dyed window films (which would fade within a couple of years and cause your window to look cheap and aged).

While we often recommend our silver series for maximum heat rejection and privacy, we also carry high-end clear window films that do not change the exterior appearance of a home, while still offering heat-rejection and UV-blocking properties. Our optically clear UV and ceramic window films are a strata-favorite due to their UV and heat protection, and optically clear appearance.

Our most popular window film  window tint is our Silver series solar and privacy window films. An industry favorite, silver/bronze reflective window film offer the highest privacy and solar heat rejection (84%) while reducing glare and looking modern from the exterior.

The good news is that all of our window films block 99% of harmful UV rays so that your interiors, floors, furniture, and skin will definitely thank you in the long run!

Is Home Window Tint Darker than Blinds?

Absolutely not! Most of our clients have been covering their views with blinds to reject heat and get some daytime privacy for years before finding out about our high-end products. Beautiful views shouldn’t be obstructed with window coverings during the day. Our state-of-the-art window films allows you to enjoy your view with privacy, without covering the windows all day.

This clients home window tint is our highly recommended Silver 20 series (which rejects 70% of the suns infrared heat) on their upper windows. Their lower windows and doors have our Silver 35 series window tint installed (which rejects 58% of the suns infrared heat).

As you can see from these before and after photos, these clients kept their gorgeous views with their home window tint, by reducing the need of using window coverings during the day.

Since home window tint reduces glare, the clients can enjoy their scenery even more and the colors of their scenery are more vibrant and clear than ever. Also, as an added bonus, silver series one-way window film gives them daytime privacy from the exterior.

Still not sure window film is right for you?

During your professional consultation, our technicians can show you our past projects with the window film recommended for your home or office.

Our professional portfolio can give you a realistic idea of what window film will look like on your project. A word of caution; clients never regret going “too dark” – we’ve never had a client tell us that they wish they had gotten a lighter window film. However, we have had clients tell us that they wish they had listened to our initial recommendation and went with the “darker” window film to enjoy more of the privacy and heat rejection benefits! After all, even the “darkest” of the window films we recommend really isn’t very dark at alll!

Feel free to ask our consultant for more project photos or check out our Portfolio!
